We don’t always realize how tightly we’re holding on.
To plans.
To outcomes.
To the way we think things should go.
It feels responsible… even wise… to try to stay in control.
To think it through. Plan it out. Prepare for every possibility.
But somewhere along the way, it becomes exhausting.
Because no matter how much you plan, you can’t control everything.
And trying to hold it all together can leave you feeling more anxious than at peace.
The truth is, control often feels like security…
but it can quietly steal your peace.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5
There’s a gentle invitation here—
not to have everything figured out,
but to release the pressure of needing to.
Surrender isn’t about giving up.
It’s about letting go of the weight you were never meant to carry.
It might look like:
- Releasing an outcome you keep trying to manage
- Letting go of the “what ifs” that keep circling
- Choosing trust, even without clarity
And maybe today, it simply starts with this quiet prayer:
“God, I don’t have to understand everything… I just want to trust You here.”
You don’t have to hold it all together.
Peace often begins right where control ends.
